Rugby World Cup

Client: Progress

We were thrilled to win the Rugby World Cup 2015 graphics tender. We became responsible for both the creative of the stadium In ‘Game Graphic Packages’, and the ‘Broadcast and Digital Packages’ for the duration of the tournament. The School of Rugby packages were vital to ensuring those who didn’t understand all the rules of the game would get the most out of this once in a lifetime experience. To help explain the rules, we engaged ‘Timeslice’ and ‘Motion Capture’ techniques to illustrate key aspects of the game. For the sequences we needed a main character, he was named XO, the ultimate rugby player was formed as a digital avatar. Working alongside the Harlequins and England Rugby Coach, Hello Charlie directed shoots at the famous England training camp at Pennyhill Park. We worked closely with the various partners of the tournament working across the marketing of the games, generating content of the XO avatar. He became a surprise key icon of the Rugby World Cup and could be found around the country on walls, buildings and at the various stadiums.
