The Madness Of George III

Client: National Theatre Live

We have loved working with the National Theatre Live team over the past few years and were equally thrilled to work with them again on their cinema trailer for the live broadcast of Alan Bennett’s award winning drama ‘The Madness of George III’. We were tasked with the challenge to portray both the power and the pain of the King of England as he fights the impending lunacy that is creeping up on him further to the death of his daughter.

Hello Charlie were responsible for the concept and creative, organising and directing the shoot, and all post production including grade and 5.1 cinema mix.

Jason was honoured to be able to direct the 3 talented cast members on the shoot, alongside the play’s director Adam Penford, two of whom have won Olivier Awards; Mark Gatiss playing King George III and Adrian Scarborough playing Doctor Willis.

With the aid of Handel’s ‘Zadok the Priest’ as our audio bed, the final delivered master was powerful and evocative.
